I’ve been kicking myself in the butt for not taking advantage of the beautiful scenery and endless outdoor activities that our little corner of the map offers. I’ve been working every weekend for the past month and it really started to take a toll on me mentally. So I was looking for a way to unwind and recharge my batteries — and what better way to do so than out in the beautiful natural world.

Random thoughts from a jet-lagged mind

When I’m wide awake at ungodly hours, my mind runs rampant. Not that any of this would be of any interest to you all, but here are some random thoughts currently running through my jet-lagged mind:

Random thought #1: The drivers in Korea are horrendous. We had three close calls during our 2-hour drive down to Busan today, none of which were our fault. The driver of the below Volvo dump truck either thought he owned the highway or was oblivious to the fact that there were other cars on the road.

This one time, I was on CNN

While I actually hate the way I look and sound in this video, it’s just too good of a story not to share. This summer, I had the privilege of having a CNN reporter follow me around during one of my Market Heritage Tours. Rarely does the general public get to see the deeper layers of Pike Place Market, specifically the Market Foundation and human service agencies that support thousands of homeless, low-income and elderly members of our community.

Happy National Noodle Day

I’m honored to share my birthday with the noodle. There’s nothing like a hearty noodle dish to lift your spirits, especially as the weather starts to turn cooler and the days become shorter. I spent a good chunk of my childhood in Korea and was spoiled with all kinds of amazing Korean noodle dishes — savory, spicy, loaded with seaweed, dumplings and even rice cakes. Mmmm mmmm.

Trend Watch: Needling

So what did you kids do this weekend? BOB (Big Orange Ball…aka the sun) was in town so we spent some much-needed quality time together at Green Lake.

I also Needled. Wait, no I did the Needle. No, no, no, I went Needling. Hmmm, OK, no matter how I phrase it, it comes across as naughty innuendo or a euphemism for a drug addiction.
